As
a real estate agent, I was anxious to get my own
domain name. That way, I could send my customers and clients to my own
web site and get email sent directly to me at my own
Internet name! I realized that my MLS
provider, MLSPIN, had
provided me with a
free website, something called a VOW
(Virtual Office Website). So I
had my own place on the web. Unfortunately the internet address of the
VOW site from my MLS provider looks like: http:/vow.mymlsprovider.com/myid#
! Not too easy to remember. So I went and bought my own domain name at GODADDY and redirected it to the VOW (Using the free Forwarding and Masking option). { Print and read the GODADDY HELP Articles "Forwarding Your Domain to Another URL" and "Masking Your Domain".} Now, all I have to do is tell my clients and customers my domain name. They go directly to my VOW using my domain name on the internet with links to my office and listings! I can also receive email at that addresss. Then I found a way to offer other real estate agents the opportunity to get their own domain name and save a few dollars. You can do the same. When you click on the link below, you'll be connected to the GODADDY site, where you can buy a DOT .COM domain name for only $6.95 [plus ICANN fee of 20 cents per domain name year, certain domains only], which is a real savings from their regular retail price . Just enter the domain name that you would like to register in the box below and click the Search button . You will find out if that name is available for you to purchase, which you will do directly on the GODADDY site. Read below to find out what to do if you find that someone else has already registered the name you wanted.
With
each domain name purchase, you will get free EXTRAS, such as: For many real estate agents, their first choice is their own name. Because only one person can have any particular domain name, you might find that someone else with your name has already bought the dot COM (.com) version of that name. While you might be able to buy that name with a different 2nd level, such as dot NET(.net) or dot INFO (.info) as an option, that might not be such a good idea. Most people go online and look for the dot COM first, so your clients will end up at someone else's site! Your other altenative is to brand yourself.. Are you the local 'condominium king/queen' or waterfront specialist? You can decide for yourself. But, the dot COM domain is probably the best for business and when you you go to sell, which will be more more valuable, myname.com or condorealestatespecialist.com? In that case, you should pick a distintive domain name that people will remember. Finally, anyone can take advantage of this link and get the savings. If you are a MLSPIN member, I strongly suggest that you download the training manual "H3MLS Virtual Office Website" and sign up for one of the free "H3MLS VOW" course that they offer. You can access both under the Training tab, after logging into MLSPIN at mlspin.com If you belong to another MLS program, that offers you the opportunity to have your own VOW, you're welcome to use this link to buy your domain name here. When building your site, be sure to follow all of your state rules and your office policies on properly identifying yourself as a real estate licensee. |
